Morning Melody {Finding Life :: A 30-Day Challenge}

Dear friends, I am NOT a morning person.  There’s nothing about me in the morning that breathes an ounce of perky.  I shuffle stumble out of bed to make my morning coffee to jump start the engine for the day.    It’s not pretty and it doesn’t feel very  spiritual.  Mindless wandering comes to mind.  Bleary-eyed.  Volume still on mute.

Because of this phenomenon, I’m pretty sure any clear thought that comes to mind in the early morning is from the Holy Spirit.  Yesterday was  proof of that and today has proved the same.

Before I hardly had a conscious, wakeful, brain cell functioning, these words began to flow as clear as crystal …

O, the wonder of it all! The wonder of it all!
Just to think that God loves me.
O, the wonder of it all! The wonder of it all!
Just to think that God loves me.

Sitting in our front porch rockers (with my coffee in hand), my husband and I sang the song together …in harmony, of course …remembering the lyrics as best we could.  It’s another childhood memory for me.

Oh for the love of the internet and quick access to lyrics to fill in the missing phrases. The search began and wouldn’t you know it,  the author is one of  Mama’s all-time favorite singers …George Beverly Shea.  I hadn’t remembered that (sniff, sniff).

Wonder of it All
by George Beverly Shea

There’s the wonder of sunset at evening,
The wonder as sunrise I see;
But the wonder of wonders that thrills my soul
Is the wonder that God loves me.

Refrain
O, the wonder of it all! The wonder of it all!
Just to think that God loves me.
O, the wonder of it all! The wonder of it all!
Just to think that God loves me.

Verse 2
There’s the wonder of springtime and harvest,
The sky, the stars, the sun;
But the wonder of wonders that thrills my soul
Is a wonder that’s only begun.

And I wondered if Mama was singing that song this morning and the sound wafted through the thin veil between here and eternity.

So often I  look at the sky, the stars, the sun, the flowers, the birds …”the wonder of springtime and harvest.”  So often I sit in amazement and wonder of the “sunrise” or the “sunset,” …

…but the “wonder of wonders that thrills my souls is the wonder that God loves me.”

Why me?  How can it be?  One so undeserving.  So broken. So selfish.

But this I know …

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”  (John 3:16 NKJV)

And even more …

“… I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love.

Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.  No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”   (Romans 8:38-39 NLT)

Maybe that’s why God keeps showing me hearts on many of the paths I walk along.  Maybe He wants that message to ring loud and clear for all time and eternity that He dearly loves me …and He dearly loves you!

Nothing in all creation can ever separate us from His love and every gift of  beauty in all creation can show us His love.

Nothing in our  past  can ever tarnish His view of us. There’s no shame or story or situation that can come between us and the love God has for us.

And today…”the wonder of  wonders that thrills my soul, is the wonder that God loves me,” …and you!   Life!

Today’s Challenge:  Did any words or phrases waft through your mind today that brought life?  Look them up. Write them down.   Sing them over again and again.  Let them sink in and bring life to your soul.  (And share something with the rest of us if you can.)

Also, I had technical difficulties of my own making on #Day21 “Words of Life”.  It’s been ** restored ** in case you’d like to read it.  It’s another song from my childhood that God used to speak life into the day.  Thanks for grace.~ Joy
